Travel to: Philadelphia

(Also known as “Coming Home”)

It’s been a whirlwind since landing stateside a few (or more) weeks ago. There was a birthday and Thanksgiving, then unpacking and settling in, then THE HOLIDAYS (which is always overwhelming, even without the trauma of trans-Pacific relocation). I haven’t had much time to think about what it means to be back in the area that I call home – don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled to have family and friends and family friends nearby, but the concept of home is an uncomfortable one for me.

I consider this home because I graduated from high school here and I spent most of my formative years around here. I have heaps of gorgeous memories of this beautiful city. And, frankly, how could you not love a place that looks like this?

That’s one good-lookin’ nighttime city!

I never imagined that I’d be back in the area, and I may not stay. But in the meantime, it’s been fantastic to reconnect with my hometown – and, vicariously, myself. The skyline looks pretty different from the last time I lived here, but I suppose I look pretty different too. It’s a matter of perspective, really.
