Sweet as: Construction (part 2)

Jack’s Point is a beautiful place

I think we’ll like it here.

If they ever finish the house.

Our builder is actually a pretty decent guy. A true kiwi, born and bred in Southland – which means he isn’t much of a talker. And he isn’t fond of email either, which makes it *really* tough to get a hold of him. He sort of responds whenever he feels like it. For most people who are busy and are building a house as part of an otherwise full life, it’s probably fine. But for me – you know, not working and all that – building is my full-time job. Keeping an eye on him is my full-time job. And the poor guy is getting sick of me.

Fortunately, a lot can happen in two months! From the time I landed back in NZ in April until the day we left in June for our two-family, around-the-world holiday, a lot of work was done on the house! It still didn’t feel totally real, but at least we had legs.

I was optimistic that when we arrived back to Queenstown after 3 long weeks of travel, we would have something that more closely resembled an abode. As long as it didn’t snow too much while we were away, that is! Winter is not a builder’s friend. I will say this for kiwi construction though: they aren’t afraid of a little cold weather. Good on ’em for keeping progress.
